A detailed view of Goniophotometer and ESD simulator

The goniophotometer is a device that is used for measuring the emitted light from an object from different angles. The goniophotometer with the LED-light sources was a great hit where the light’s spatial distribution is not homogeneous and the usage of this type of goniophotometer was increasing in recent years. The esd simulator is also called the ESD gun which is used for testing the immunity of devices to ESD which is the acronym of electrostatic discharge. The ESD simulator is specially used in EMC which is the acronym of electromagnetic compatibility where the ESD pulses are high-voltage and fast pulses that are created when the 2 objects of different electrical charges come in contact.

The common types of a goniophotometer

The goniophotometer is classified into 3 common types and they are as follows. The first type of goniophotometer is having a fixed horizontal axis and the vertical axis is attached where both are perpendicular to the light source’s main output direction. The second type of goniophotometer has a fixed vertical axis and the horizontal axis is attached where both are perpendicular to the light source’s main output direction. And these both the types are double columns structure.

The third type of goniophotometer is having a fixed vertical axis that is perpendicular to the measurement line and the horizontal axis is parallel to the light source’s main output direction. This type has a single column structures and this type can be used in spot lamp, fixed tube lamp or other devices.

The goniophotometer is used in various applications such as measurement of the light source’s luminous flux and the luminous distribution measurement from the source that is even smaller than the goniophotometer. If the goniophotometer is equipped with color sensors, then it can also measure the additional characteristics like color uniformity and correlated color temperature distribution.
